Lara Trump reveals president’s reaction to her first Fox News show and the surprising way she’s ‘proven him wrong’
Lara Trump revealed that President Donald Trump is her ‘biggest cheerleader’ and how she surprised him with her high ratings after her Fox News debut.
The 42-year-old mother-of-two’s show, My View with Lara Trump, broke debut records for the conservative network when it aired its first show last month – quite to the surprise of the 47th president.
‘Of course, he told me that the only way that I was going to get a huge audience is if I had him on and so I think that – I don’t want to say I’ve proven him wrong,’ she told USA Today.
‘When he comes on, I guess the audience will be even bigger.’
Lara’s father-in-law even called her multiple times after the show debuted to congratulate her – calls she unfortunately missed.
‘He’s called me twice since the show to tell me what an amazing job he thought I did, how much he enjoyed the show and unfortunately, both times, I missed his call,’ she told USA Today.
The new talk show host said she missed his messages due to being on a plane both times.
As for when the current president will make an appearance on her show, she doesn’t think it will be until after his first 100 days – but mostly because she wants time to cement herself in her new gig.

‘We don’t have anything officially planned,’ she told USA Today.
Lara has already had others in Trump’s camp on her show, including 27-year-old Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard.
She also wants to have her whole family on the program, because she thinks the ‘way we all interact’ is ‘cool.’
‘We all get along so well. I think the past eight years have made us all closer,’ she told USA Today.
However, the host doesn’t just want her father-in-law’s inner circle as the only guests, but will also invite Democrats and those critical of the current administration.
‘You know what side I’m on, you know for whom I voted, and you know that I obviously want to see this country succeed with my father-in-law as president, but I think anyone who tunes into the show regularly will very quickly learn that I’m simply trying to give more insights,’ she told USA Today.
She’s hoping the opinion-based series will ‘bring an extra layer of transparency and more information, not less information, to people out there.’
Some Democrats she would like to get on her show include Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman – who is best known for his causal workwear – and HBO talk show host Bill Maher.
The premiere of her show saw 2.4 million people tuning in, of which 290,000 were between the ages of 25 and 54

She’s also aware of the criticism her show has already faced, including its similarity in name to the mostly liberal show The View on ABC.
However, she insisted the titles are similar because ‘it is really what this show is all about.’
‘It’s my view on things and my perspective,’ she told USA Today.
She also has no hatred toward the ladies of The View, and told the outlet she would even consider joining as their token conservative host if she was ever asked.
Lara said the reason she went for the weekly hosting duties over running for Florida senator was over concerns for her young children.
‘My kids need me. They want me around. That doesn’t last forever,’ she told USA Today.
‘With that in mind, this great opportunity at Fox came up and I said, you know: “It just feels like this is the position that God is pushing me in.” There’s a reason you don’t see a lot of moms of school-aged children as United States Senators.’
There are currently four women senators who have school-aged children.
She said her father-in-law is her ‘biggest cheerleader’ and she hopes to have him on her show
‘It’s not that they don’t have the drive to do it. It’s very challenging to be away from your children if you don’t move them fully to D.C. for the amount of time it’s necessary to do the job of United States Senator,’ the wife of Eric Trump said.
The premiere of her show saw 2.4 million people tuning in, of which 290,000 were between the ages of 25 and 54.
The stats represent the highest-rated Saturday 9:00 p.m.-hour ratings since the breaking news coverage of the attempted assassination attempt against her father-in-law President Donald Trump in July 2024.
